What’s Growing – March 27, 2016


As Spring makes a rather slow entrance, not too much is happening outdoors. Inside, though, loads of seeds have been started. Some seedlings have been potted up. And I unfortunately had a run-in with a bag of seed-starting mix that was infected with an unwelcome fungus.

I tell myself every year that I’m not going to overdo it with tomato plants, and yet here I am, again, growing way too many seedlings for my space (26 this year)… I’ll have to prepare more planting beds, as I don’t have the heart to thin them.Zinnia

Yesterday I put zinnia and tithonia seeds in moist paper towls, wrapped them in a plastic bag, and placed them on one of my seedling heating mats to germinate. I’ve started these seeds every which way in the past and have come to prefer starting them in paper towls.
