Man Does Not Live on Bread Alone, But It’s Yummy

Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. – Matthew 4:4

This month, we’ve been fasting from feasting. Sort of. More accurately, we’ve been significantly restricting the variety of foods we eat. My wife selected the four poorest countries from Africa, Asia, South America, and Europe and is eating like the poorest people there – think lots of rice-and-bean-like meals, with various vegetables. It’s not meant to be an exact replication of their diets (especially in quantity), but more an exercise in principle.

I took a slightly different tack in the attempt to stay on track with some health goals and opted to drop processed carbohydrates and added sugars from my diet.
