A little over a year ago I decided to make my mother a retirement gift. I would build her a shop — using the components she loved so that she had a means to do what she wanted in retirement: create beautiful things.

Mom loved the color purple, and loved working with tiny beads. So while she worked toward her retirement — I learned to make jewelry she would be able to reproduce within her stash. I took photos, I marketed, and I worked so that it would not only make her happy as she created a post-corporate life for herself, but would create a degree of income.
