Our plan for today included a trip back to Slovakia on our bikes to visit the Domica Caves which were shut on Mondays. Once again our reason for choosing these caves over the Hungarian section of the same cave system (it straddles the border) was that it included a boat-ride which is rather magical.20160510_084018

Cycling cross-border sounds like a major expedition – but it is only 2km (less than a trip into town from home) so we arrived within a few minutes! As explained previously the place seems to have had its hey-day in the Communist era. A fancy visitor centre with some very interesting exhibits was done out like a cheap 5 star hotel, Gold anodised aluminium trim around marble and wood. But the gold was tarnished, the marble chipped and the wooden and Perspex display cases were sagging or wonky.20160510_092918

Howevedr some of the displays were interesting.
