It’s that time of year again where the produce is so much brighter and fresher!! The local season is on the horizon and at the very least there’s a lot more Canadian grown options becoming more affordable. I’ve already had two hearty herb harvests from my expanded vegetable garden. Thyme, Chives, Rosemary, Basil, Sage, Parsley, Dill and Oregano are already in abundance, despite the frosts last week. On top of the started plants I purchased my beets, peas, beans, Romaine, greens, turnips and more carrots are peeking their wee baby leaves through the soil. Today I sowed some nasturtiums, the final planting before the autumnal season, and it’s the first day of summer!! Hip-hip-Hooray!! Hopefully there are no more nights spent scrambling to gather and spread plastic sheets and blankets over the young plants!!
