The cost of driving an Electric Vehicle

Blue Water Leaf

Many critics of electric vehicles will tell you that owning an Electric Vehicle (EV) is very expensive.

The way I see the relationship of debt to owning a car – petroleum or electric powered – is, simply put:

Either one is a subscription to dependency

No matter the car, just the act of buying the thing means you will have to pay weekly, monthly and yearly “subscriptions” for the fuel, repairs, tax, insurance etc…just for the privilege of owning and driving the thing.

To me the logical choice is to buy the one that fits your needs and is more, well…logical.

When buying a vehicle I take a scientific approach and try to leave emotion out of the decision so as not to be swayed by peer pressure (from friends, coworkers and the myriad of flashy automotive ads that saturate the…

Rhode Island Luna-Sea

Adventures of Kells N' Bells

I joke that I had a past life in Rhode Island. For some reason I had a profound internal desire to visit this state. I had this resounding urge and anticipation to see it. Honestly, this is also true for Massachusetts, but we were preparing to spend the next 2 days in Rhode Island and I couldn’t have been more excited. We had left New Jersey, and were driving through Connecticut, planning on at least one stop in the beautiful Constitution State before arriving in the Ocean State. I have a friend that grew up in Connecticut, so I had asked her for advice on a cool place to check out. Laura sent me a to do list of which included Gillette Castle State Park. The park wasn’t too far out of our way, and looked like it would be a fun spot for a quick stop.

Our drive through…

Catching my breath

Little Things

After such an amazing but busy and long weekend and Monday, today has been sponsored by tea and sheer bloody-mindedness. It didn’t help that there were no kids in today due to the teachers’ strike. Contrary to most people in schools, I really don’t like days when the little buggers aren’t there – never have at either school – their interruptions help to keep me awake and the day moving along apace. Consequently today was very long and I kept almost falling asleep at my desk during the late morning.
Thankfully going out for my lunchtime walk woke me up a bit and my big sunglasses saved me from scaring small children with the bags under my eyes whilst I was doing it. High heels are definitely some kind of torture device, though: I wore them for one night and today my legs have been bloody murder! Hitting my step…

Film and TV Museum

Deutschland 2016

Wednesday, June 29, 2016

Today we had a German class excursion to the German TV and Film Museum. I was super excited about this one because it was right up my ally. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to take pictures because it’s “copyrighted.” So I’ll post some of the pictures I took outside of the museum and then illegally steal other pictures from the museum that I find online :).

Since this excursion was for our German class, our entire tour was given in German. Fortunately, I knew some of the things that we were talking about already so it was a little easier to follow. However I was lost a lot of the time. Anytime I got distracted, maybe by looking at all of the displays at the museum, I lost what he was talking about and really had to focus to figure out what he was saying. For me…

My darkest secret.

chalkboardthoughtsblog

This post has nothing to do with secrets and I apologise for that dirty trick; however I didn’t think you would click the link if I told you what it was really about (I also apologise for the lack of trust ).

Full disclosure, this post is about feminism …you can leave now if you want, but there’s nothing new on Netflix so I think your hands are pretty much tied. Go on, give it a read.

As always, this is a topic that has been circling around my head for a while and I tried to think of a way to spin it so it would read as delightful, charming and inoffensive. But I can’t think of one so I’m just going to say what I think. Because its my blog. And you could leave if you wanted. But you know you’ll regret it. It’ll just eat away at…
